His Own War
This morning one of our reading groups read a text called His Own War. It was about a man, Archie, who refused to fight in the war - he was a conscientious objector. We had some wonderful discussions about the pros and cons of his stance and whether he was brave, foolish or both. Liam was strongly supportive of his stance, Pete initially thought going to war would be a great adventure, he then became less sure of this. Dom was able to see both sides of the argument. Amy spoke her opinions with great conviction, as did Grace. Jess was sure that his objections were for the right reasons. Mya thought that, at times, killing was justified. Ida and Jessica were pretty sure that Archie's stance and beliefs were courageous.
