Words That Wound

This afternoon we wrote one word each on a piece of paper, this word was hurtful in some way. We then placed ourselves on a continuum from teasing / playful to extremely degrading. We realised that different words have different effects on different people and this makes relationships complex. We understand that it is never ok to use our words against others. We also tried to put ourselves in the shoes of others and imagine how much more difficult it would be when coming from a country with a different language.

It would be great to continue this interesting conversation around our dinner tables tonight.

  1. "sticks and stones will break my bones but words can never hurt me" it's absolute rubbish because words can actually hurt, alot.

    1. You are so right word can really heart you but I think the reason they made that saying is because it makes you feel really strong. Also it is really helpful to have a little saying that helps you stay strong.😀😊😍👍🏾

  2. Liam talked about this at home yesterday and we discussed some more around words being more or less hurtful to different people. I wonder if part of this is the way that the word is said - so the voice and body language used when you say a word can make it more hurtful than when a friend uses it in play?
